We read the certifications so you do not have to. This page explains who publishes the site, how we check a claim, what we deliberately do not do, and exactly how we get paid.

Why this site exists
PFAS turns up in a lot of US tap water, and EPA now sets enforceable limits for it. That created a shopping problem overnight. Suddenly every filter box carries a PFAS claim, and almost none of them explain what the claim actually rests on.
Most filter review sites do not help. They rank on commission, they recommend a Brita for everything, and they repeat certification claims straight off the packaging without checking a single listing. Plenty of them still tell readers to look for NSF P473, a protocol NSF retired years ago.
We built this to be the version that checks. Every PFAS claim we publish traces to a certifying body, an accredited lab, or the maker, and we always say which.
Who runs it
PFASFilterGuide.com is published by Anvil Road LLC, an independent US publisher. We are not owned by a filter maker, a water utility, or a testing lab, and no filter brand has any stake in the site.
Research and editing are done in-house. Where a page touches health territory, we stick to what EPA, ATSDR and state health departments actually say rather than writing our own health claims.

How the research works
Every product on this site goes through the same four steps.
- Find the current product. Model numbers and product pages change constantly. We check the maker's live page, not an old review.
- Check the certification. Which body, which standard, and whether a PFAS claim is actually on it. That last question is the one that matters and the one most sites skip.
- Read the lab data. Which lab, what accreditation, which compounds, what starting concentration.
- Work out the real cost. Sticker price, filter price, how often it needs changing, and what that adds up to in a year.

What "verified" means here
We use the word narrowly. Verified means we opened the primary source ourselves and it says what we say it says. A certifier's listing. An EPA page. A maker's own performance data sheet.
Verified does not mean we tested it. It does not mean the product is guaranteed to work in your house. And it does not mean a certified filter will bring your water under 4 parts per trillion, because EPA itself says current certification standards do not show that yet.
Of the products in our registry, 1carries an accredited PFAS certification. The rest rely on lab data or the maker's word, and each card says which.
What this site does not do
- We do not run laboratory tests.No lab, no test rig, no water samples. If you see "we tested" anywhere on this site, it is an error and we want to know.
- We do not have PFAS data for your address. Nobody does. Public records describe water systems, not taps.
- We do not give medical advice. We cannot tell you what a PFAS level means for your health. Your doctor or state health department can.
- We do not take payment for rankings, and we do not let brands review pages before they go live.
How we make money
Affiliate links. If you buy through one, the seller pays us a commission and your price is unchanged.
We currently earn on links to Amazon and Waterdrop. Every other maker on this site gets a plain link that pays us nothing, and we link to them anyway because the point of the page is to get you to the right filter. Our top-graded product is one of the ones that pays us nothing.

How corrections work
We get things wrong. Certification listings move, prices change, and products get discontinued without warning. When we find an error, or you find one for us, we fix the page and log it publicly instead of editing quietly.
The corrections log lists what we have already got wrong and fixed. Every commercial page carries the date its evidence was last confirmed.
