About PFASFilterGuide.com
We read the certifications so you do not have to. Independent water filter reviews focused on PFAS removal.
Why This Site Exists
PFAS contamination is real. About 45% of US tap water contains these chemicals. The EPA has set enforceable limits. Public water systems have until 2031 to comply.
The problem is that most people do not know which filters actually work. The internet is full of filter review sites that rank products based on Amazon commissions, not on actual PFAS removal data. They recommend Brita for everything. They call every product "the best." They ignore the difference between NSF 42 and NSF P473.
We built PFASFilterGuide to fix that. Every recommendation on this site is based on certifications, lab data, and real costs. If a filter does not have NSF P473 certification or credible independent testing, we say so. If a product has drawbacks, we list them.
What We Do
Check Certifications
We verify every product claim against the NSF certification database. If a brand says "NSF P473 certified," we check the public database. If it is not there, we say so.
Read the Lab Reports
When brands publish independent test results, we read them. We check who did the testing, what compounds were measured, and what the actual removal percentages were.
Calculate Real Costs
The sticker price is not the full picture. We include replacement filter costs, annual totals, and cost-per-gallon so you know what you are really paying.
Honest Reviews
Every product gets pros AND cons. We do not pretend a filter is perfect. We include the drawbacks so you can make an informed decision.
What We Do Not Do
- XWe do not accept paid placements. Filter brands cannot buy a ranking on this site.
- XWe do not run our own lab tests. We rely on NSF certifications and published independent lab data.
- XWe do not recommend products we would not use ourselves.
- XWe do not make medical claims. We share filtration data. Talk to your doctor about health concerns.
Affiliate Disclosure
PFASFilterGuide.com is reader-supported. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep the site running without charging you for access.
Here is how our affiliate partnerships work:
- Amazon Associates: We earn 1-4% on purchases made through our Amazon links. This applies to AquaTru, Epic Pure, Travel Berkey, and other Amazon-listed products.
- Clearly Filtered: We earn a commission on sales through our partner link. Clearly Filtered is our top-rated brand and would be whether we earned a commission or not.
- SpringWell: We earn a commission on whole-house system sales. These are expensive products with high commissions, but we only recommend them if the data supports it.
- Waterdrop: We earn a commission through our partner program.
Here is our promise: Commission rates do not affect our rankings. If a product with a 25% commission does not have the certifications, we will not recommend it. If a product with a 1% commission is the best option, it gets the top spot.
We recommend products based on certifications, lab data, and real-world cost. The affiliate income lets us keep doing this research for free. You never pay more by using our links.
