Who we are

The PFASFilterGuide editorial team focuses on water quality and PFAS contamination. We started this site because we saw a real gap: the people most affected by PFAS in drinking water are private well owners who get zero help from the EPA or their utilities. We built this as the resource we wished existed.

We are a small team. Our work centers on translating EPA regulations, NSF certifications, and peer-reviewed science into plain language that a homeowner can actually use.

Our specialties

  • +
    PFAS regulations

We track EPA rulemaking, state-level PFAS standards, and legislative developments. We updated every affected page within 30 days of the April 2024 EPA final rule.

  • +
    Water filtration technology

We research how filtration media work: activated carbon, reverse osmosis, catalytic carbon, and ion exchange. We do not take manufacturer claims at face value. We check NSF certification records before writing any performance claim.

  • +
    EPA standards and MCLs

Every regulatory claim on this site links directly to EPA.gov or a state agency source. We do not paraphrase regulations without citing them.

  • +
    Consumer water safety

We focus on practical, actionable guidance for homeowners. How to test. What to buy. What to do when results come back above the limit. We skip the jargon whenever plain language works better.

How we produce content

Every article starts with primary sources. We research EPA publications, NSF certification databases, USGS groundwater data, and peer-reviewed toxicology studies before writing a single sentence.

Drafts are reviewed internally for accuracy against those sources. We check regulatory claims against EPA.gov and filter performance claims against NSF International records before publication.

We are actively recruiting a credentialed Environmental Engineer or Toxicologist to serve as our independent technical reviewer. Until that role is filled, all health and regulatory claims are verified directly against primary government and scientific sources.

See our editorial policy for the full breakdown of how content is researched, drafted, and verified.
